Navigation Menu Test
Persona: Shopper. This user is looking for a specific type of product.
The problem
Users are not using the nav to progress to relevant PLPs because the way the secondary and tertiary items are displayed is causing cognitive overload.
The proposed change/s
Re-order products and categories by popularity
Add in further breakdowns of the existing categories
Redesign the navigation container
Hypothesis
IF we redesign the layout of the nav to prioritise popular categories, cluster items into sub-categories and display secondary and tertiary levels separately
THEN more users will click through on the nav
BECAUSE it will be easier to navigate and identify what they are looking for
The current navigation
Competitor Analysis
Secondary and Tertiary layer of the nav are each revealed by separating men’s and women’s to reduce cognitive overload.
Secondary and Tertiary layer of the nav are each revealed incrementally to reduce cognitive overload.
Product order is (presumably) based on popularity for each category rather than alphabetical.
